Documentaries & Podcasts
There have been a ton of great projects over the years compliling the complacated history of Japanese wrestling and this is a small attempt to highlight and orginize a few of them.
History of FMW & FMW Stories
fmwwrestling.us Bahu has put together the gold standard on covering the lifespan of a single promotion. Every minor detail you could ever need on the history of FMW. Bahu covers the promotion from before they FMW opens in 1989 to when close in 2002 as well following legacy this promotion left behind up until 2020. The podcast version is fantastic but the video version with clips from Bahu's archive is must watch for any fan. Really Bahu's entire website is a goldmine.
Dai Nihon Die Hard
Dai Nihon Die Hard Very similar to Bahu's History of FMW but this is an on going project covering BJW's history. As of writing their are 6 episodes up covering 1995, 1996, 1997 & 1998. The history of BJW is one I don't know very well so this is one I've been excited for.
Must See Matches Podcast
Must See Matches Not Japanese wrestling specific but Mark & Kieran did a fantastic job putting together a list of 104 must see matches and bring on an approprate guest for each of them for that goes far beyond a list of match reviews but bring each match into the context on why they are must see. The project has wrapped up but the content is evergreen.
Those Days: A Michinoku Pro Retrospective!
Those Days: A Michinoku Pro Retrospective I'm not a regular Dragon Gate watcher so I don't listen to Open The Voice Gate but I have been loving their historical look back at Michinoku Pro wrestling and the influance of The Great Sasuke.
There can be no love without pro wrestling
